His training and education is primarily in trauma and recovery, with a specialisation in co-occurring substance use and mental health. He has worked with military veterans, survivors of domestic violence, and children. He completed undergraduate and masters-level training in the US and a Public Health doctorate in Australia.
Rashid teaches across medical education and social work practice at local Universities. Unit content includes social work practice, children and families, mental health, Indigenous studies and medical professional development. He has worked as a senior social worker for NSW Health for the last 10 years. He is also involved in several research projects exploring clinical practice and responses to behaviour change. He is an active member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.
